How to Become a Mary's Place HOST

Requests have come to us from around the world from other couples who share the vision of renewing the church through helping people in ministry reorient their lives around prayer and the Word of God.

We are currently seeking God's guidance in how we should proceed.

It is possible that a training/certification process will begin during 2002. If that is the case, here are some basic guidelines that we will follow:

  • Preliminary Evaluation
    • An extensive written application process that will explore the candidates' background, spiritual experience and beliefs, ministry and/or work experience, a description of current prayer life and patterns, personal fruitfulness, personal references, description of the proposed host location
    • A telephone follow-up interview
  • Provisional Acceptance and Covenant
    • After the successful completion of the evaluation process, candidates will receive a provisional acceptance
    • "Counting the Cost" prayer period. Candidates will be asked to pray for whatever period of time necessary to make a definite commitment to the Mary's Place ministry pattern and philosophy. The only financial commitment we expect is to the direct costs of hosting people.
    • Recruit an intercessor prayer team for personal and ministry support
    • At this point, candidates will sign a Ministry Covenant. This is not a legal contract, but a covenant before the candidate and the Lord.
  • Training and Final Evaluation
    • Three-month correspondence course involving extensive reading (10 books) and writing "reflection" papers.
    • One-week training on location at Mary's Place
    • Final interviews
    • Developing a ministry plan
    • Upon successful completion of these steps, candidates will receive a provisional certification and will be approved to conduct Mary's Place retreats.
  • Final Certification will be granted after hosting two Mary's Place retreats and passing a final assessment based on further prayer, conversation and "Retreat Follow-up" evaluations.
