Basic Assumption #4:
People
Make Life Changing Decisions During Unique Occasions of Challenge and
Reflection
Isn’t it often the case that we can know that we need to make some
kind of change in our life, but time just gets away? It’s not that we
don’t care; we just stay too busy.
How often we have stopped during the rush of our activities and
thought, I need to spend more time with the Lord. Then we “resolve”
to “not miss a day,” or to “pray at least 15 minutes a day,” or
to “start keeping a prayer notebook.
What usually happens? We “peter” out—just like Peter failed to
keep his vow to follow the Lord to the death. Why? Because most
important decisions require significant lifestyle adjustments.
That’s why it usually takes some special opportunity when we are
disconnected from the normal routines and familiar territories of life.
Under those circumstances we have an occasion for stepping back and
looking at an overview of our life.
What’s really most important?
Are we getting caught up in things that don’t matter that much?
The Mary’s Place ministry is committed to the importance of
creating the ideal opportunity for making lasting decisions. By removing
all the “normal” obstacles to life-reorientation—distracting
surroundings, limited time, unwanted interruptions and financial
pressures—our guests will walk away from their experience with renewed
passion for spending time with the Lord and a practical
life-reorientation plan that will have a good chance for success.
