THE WAY OF THE CROSS
A reflective Via Dolorosa walk
by John Hay, Jr. (West Morris Street FMC, Indianapolis, IN)

The Stations, or Way of the Cross, is an ancient method of meditating upon Christ's Suffering and Death. Trace the path of Jesus from His condemnation to His body being laid in a tomb. Bring your senses, and most of all your heart, and walk the Way of the Cross. Take time to read, reflect, pray, and/or sing. Reflect on what Jesus' journey to the cross means for you, for all.

STATION TEN: Jesus is nailed to the Cross

Scripture: "Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows…He was pierced for our transgressions he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:4-5

Reflection: How can I behold the Savior shamefully nailed to the Cross and seek only comfort, wealth, and honors... and even indulge in unlawful pleasures? My sins nailed him there; His love for me held Him there.

Prayer: Jesus Crucified, crucify my own sinful ways and let me leave them at the cross, that I may love only Thee and renounce the world, the flesh, and the Devil. Amen.

Song:
Love sent my Savior to die in my stead.
Why should he love me so?
Meekly to Calvary's cross He was led.
Why should he love me so?

Nails pierced His hands and His feet for my sin.
Why should He love me so?
He suffered sore my salvation to win.
Why should He love me so?
